Room for Just One More – the New Build Porsche 993 Turbo

Porsche spent more than 18 months creating this 993 Turbo. Built by the Porsche Classic department from a brand new 993 bodyshell incorporating the side intakes of the Turbo S, it is a beautiful creation that combines the modern Golden Yellow paint finish of the 2018 911 Turbo S Exclusive with the classic lines of the 993 Turbo.

Developing 450 horsepower, the classic sports car will celebrate its world premiere at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion in Laguna Seca (USA) on September 27, 2018. The collector’s item, which is limited to use on private tracks, will then be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta on October 27, 2018. The proceeds will be donated to the Ferry Porsche Foundation, a non-profit organization established this year to mark the “70 years of Porsche sports cars” celebrations.

The fact hat Porsche are able to build a complete car from the contents of their Classic Department is a superb showcase of the support that Porsche still give to their older cars. Porsche claim that everything was sourced from the Classic Department including the 450bhp twin turbo engine, four wheel drive system and all trim items.

The hand-stamped chassis number follows the last series-production model of the 993 Turbo which rolled off the production line in 1998.

It will be interesting to see who the eventual victorious owner of the car is at the Atlanta auction in October.

If you love the sound of the Cosworth V8 as much as the V12 Merlin, the smell of Jet A1 as much as Castrol R and admire the late Ray Hanna as much as Sir Stirling, you’ll find you’re both on the same page. Neill's love of art deco buildings means that his ideal home would be a brilliant white, 1930′s control tower in Southern France, with crisply mown grass, biplane parked on the driveway and a Ferrari 288GTO in the garage. This is something that those around him tolerate, though it does concern them from time to time.
