Racing, Not Posing

Racing, Not PosingLove this short video by Porsche, it fits in quite nicely with our philosophy of driving cars, not just polishing them. I’ve written previously about the mystery of why people don’t just get Porsches out and drive them. Lots of famous archive clips put together, some you’ll know, some I’ve certainly not seen before. Back in the 1980’s of course, Guards Red 911s, matching braces and Motorola Brick mobiles were very much in vogue in the city and Porsche sold very well on the back of being trendy until it all went wrong and the company nearly foundered. Today, Porsche seems to be able to strike the perfect balance between fashionable for the trendy Tiptronic drivers and iconic for the drivers. Regardless of your knowledge of Porsche history, if you own one, get in it and drive it.

If you love the sound of the Cosworth V8 as much as the V12 Merlin, the smell of Jet A1 as much as Castrol R and admire the late Ray Hanna as much as Sir Stirling, you’ll find you’re both on the same page. Neill's love of art deco buildings means that his ideal home would be a brilliant white, 1930′s control tower in Southern France, with crisply mown grass, biplane parked on the driveway and a Ferrari 288GTO in the garage. This is something that those around him tolerate, though it does concern them from time to time.
