Classic Race Simulators – Just The Thing For The Waiting, Not Racing Period

If your historic race car is currently sitting on axle stands, that BDA on the workbench, cams, valves, valvesprings carefully lined up, last autumn’s leaves still against the door, then you need one of these. Classic Race Simulators launched just prior to Christmas 2013 and create hand built fibre glass body tubs modelled on the iconic chassis of historic single seat race cars. Outfitted with R factor Historic Racer software, the simulators give the full on, no downforce, Dunlop CR65 feeling, with authentic engine notes.

Revealed for the first time at this year’s Autosport show, the stand won Best Stand in the historic race section of the show. Unlike most race simulator setups, this one is a great looking piece of artwork in itself, so if you have the space in your Man Cave, there’s no need to store it away when not in use.

So if you’re waiting, not racing, or if you want to know what it feels like to take Eau Rouge in a Lotus 43, then take a look at the website for the different models and colour schemes available from £2995.

Author: Neill Watson

If you love the sound of the Cosworth V8 as much as the V12 Merlin, the smell of Jet A1 as much as Castrol R and admire the late Ray Hanna as much as Sir Stirling, you’ll find you’re both on the same page. Neill's love of art deco buildings means that his ideal home would be a brilliant white, 1930′s control tower in Southern France, with crisply mown grass, biplane parked on the driveway and a Ferrari 288GTO in the garage. This is something that those around him tolerate, though it does concern them from time to time.
