Just had an email chat with the motivational force behind this exciting project. Pistons, Passions and Scicilian Pleasures is a drama documentary hopefully in production this coming year. Featuring two of my favouriate presenters, Alain De Cadanet and Italian Francesco da Mosto, I’m looking forward to seeing it. The setting for the film will be the 92 mile evocative Grand Circuito della Madonie amongst outstanding mountain scenery and through medieval villages unchanged since the days of Nazzaro’s triumphs.
The trailer gives us a flavour of the drama documentary, featuring several notable cars including the Fiat driven by Nazzaro, who won the 1907 Targa Florio, possibly the restored “Monster” 1911 Fiat S76a and the 1913 Nazzaro Corsa which Nazzaro drove and won the 1913 GIRO round the entire 600 gruelling miles of the island.
However, the film is not just about motor racing. It recreates episodes of Vincenzo Florio’s life , an enthusiastic race driver himself, from the pranks he got up to as a teenager to the evolution of the eponymous Targa Race series during The Belle Epoch. Currently in the final stages before actual shooting commences, lets hope we see the finished film soon.
Here’s the film opening sequence, with the trailer below. Full details on the Upfolds media site here
